JOB DESCRIPTION FOR: VALUE ENGINEER

REPORTING:
Reports to Technical Affairs Manager

POSITION PURPOSE:
• To create value engineering comprehension
• To optimize projects by performing value analysis and value management.
• To improve processes and product development in significant ways to decrease costs, increase profits.
• To improve quality and performance, and enhance customer satisfaction

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITY
• Plans and coordinates engineering activities to develop and apply standardized design criteria and production requirements for parts and equipment
• Establishes and maintains liaison between engineering and other departments to formulate and apply design criteria and production requirements for proposed products.
• Analyzes product design data to determine conformance to established design selection criteria, use of standardized parts and equipment, and design-to-cost ratio.
• Approves initial design or recommends modifications based on producibility, cost, and component technology factors.
• Coordinates testing of new parts and equipment, evaluates test results, and approves or rejects usage of parts and equipment based on test results.
• Evaluates and approves selection of vendors.
• Initiates and provides technical direction for research and development programs to enhance production methods, improve parts and equipment technology, and reduce costs.
• Develops methods and programs to predict, track, and report production costs during design development.
• Evaluate and review repair quotations to ensure cost are fair and equitable e.g. contract enforcement, warranty optimization, tactical cost reduction/avoidance opportunities.
• Identify opportunities for cost of ownership reduction e.g. Recommended Customer Recharge.
• Reporting of saving performance.
• Achieving or exceeding contractual customer requirements.
• Work as part of a team in the Value Engineering function and wider Customer Support and Supplier Management teams.
• Identifying areas of opportunity in process, customer service and Return on Investment.
• Review and analyze warranty rejections and quotations raising an Engineering Request Form
• Monitor and identify opportunities for reliability management and complete reliability reports

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Formal Education & Certification
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
• Value engineering certificate issued by one of known organizations (preferable).

Knowledge & Experience
• At least 5 years of project cost experience in Saudi Arabia.
• Strong analytical skills with a focused and methodical approach to managing work.
• A strong team worker who focuses on the success of a team as a whole; with excellent interpersonal skills, clear communication and ability to negotiate effectively.
• Confident in using own initiative, adept at problem solving, willing to learn.
• Able to priorities and make decisions whilst balancing results with workload and applying appropriate attention to detail.

Personal Attributes
• Able to perform duties independently.
• Ability to deal with situations involving sensitive and confidential company issues.
• Strong written and oral communication skills; ability to communicate with all levels. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from employees, customers, regulatory agencies or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to top management, job site personnel, regulatory agencies and/or public groups.
• Highly self-motivated and directed with strong attention to detail.
• Able to organize work, engage in variety of tasks simultaneously and consistently meet deadlines.
• Exercise creative, innovative and effective problem solving.
• Review/follow up to ensure optimum results.
• Non-Smoker is preferable.

General requirement:
• Transferable Iqama (for non Saudi).
• Driving license.
