Aeronautical Telecommunications Officer
* Make entries as required in the Daily Log Book and Duty Officer System Journal ensuring that details of appropriate events, incidents or operating irregularities that took place on the shift are recorded in the timed (UTC) sequence of their occurrence.
* Pr***de a detailed handover/takeover to oncoming shift of events that occurred or are outstanding from the shift.
* Answering enquiries from ATC and Airline Operators etc. regarding flight plans and ATS messages.
* As required, collect statistical data and printouts for collation of statistical data.
* Pr***de on-the-job training for trainees assigned to him and submit, as required, the appropriate Training Reports regarding the student’s progress and need for further training.
* Modification of the message switching system software tables to meet authorized operational requirements. In particular;
• The control and monitoring of facilities to determine message traffic switching;
• Storage and queue conditions;
• Monitoring and correcting system alarms;
• Examine and action, as appropriate, all messages appearing in the system job queue;
• Message retrieval, re-runs etc.
* Take appropriate action on messages unable to be processed by the system due to errors or omissions and on system alarms, loss of circuits or other facilities.
* Monitor the flow of data, by using the appropriate *****tation ******, the flow of data on specific circuits. As an example, after a circuit outage, ensuring Message Transit Times are being met.
* Coordination (Service Message or Voice) as required with international and domestic Fixed Service Stations etc. regarding the AFTN/CIDIN/AMHS operation.
* Modify Routing Tables and Circuit Diversions as required to effect alternate routing and traffic diversion at times of system or circuit outages.
* Coordinate with the related Engineering Sector regarding any system, circuit and facility failure or problem so that corrective action can be taken.

COMM Ops and Procedures Basic Course.
